February 16th, 2008: Dirty Hands Biodiesel Coop Host First Stop of Japanese Around-The-World Biodiesel Adventure!
The Biodiesel Adventure is a global project in which Shusei Yamada drives around the world using only recycled Waste Vegetable Oil (WVO). The car has a super-small Biodiesel plant installed in the back and converts donated WVO into Biodiesel Fuel while driving. The purpose of the project is to raise people’s awareness to the possibilities for recycling and reuse of vegetable oil as a fuel.

WVO donations:
- Any used vegetable oil and expired unused cooking oil is acceptable. No animal fats, shortening, or engine oil please
- After cooling oil, put it in a clear plastic bottle or jar fitted with a tight lid to prevent oxidation. Store it in a dark place.
- Add a note with your thoughts about the world you would like to create or a message to Shusei.
- At the event site, Shusei may take your photograph and introduce your message on the Web.

Ever wondered about making your own biodiesel? BioLyle will cover what you need to know about homebrewing biodiesel. Learn about where to get materials, how to make your own processor or where to buy an automated one, how to ensure fuel quality, how to find high quality used cooking oil, and more! There will be plenty of time for Q&A.

March 3rd, 2008:Climate Dialogues Volunteers Meeting
The Greater Seattle Climate Dialogues is a campaign of community learning and discussion that begins with small group dialogues (in neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, etc.) and will culminate in a Citizen’s Climate Summit, where our informed, collective voice will be heard by local and national political leaders. Come learn about the Dialogues, get a copy of Climate Choices, and meet other people who are getting involved.

Funded in part by a grant from the City of Seattle’s Neighborhood Climate Protection Fund, this event includes a visit from City Councilmember Sally Clark, panel discussions on biodiesel activism for improving health and fighting climate change, student presentations and contest results, and informative booths with friendly volunteers from neighborhood and community organizations.
